2026 Georgia Legislation in Review: In defense of immigrant communities

In 2026, Georgia lawmakers introduced a number of bills that will heavily impact immigrants and the wider public. While ICE continues to target our community members, our state lawmakers are pushing harmful bills. These bills line up with federal rules that target immigrant communities and threaten our right to speak up. To help explain and make sense of the legislative session, In Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta has published the 2026 Georgia Legislation in Review. This report offers a look back at bills introduced in the 2025-2026 Regular Session and the 2026 Special Session. The report serves as a tool to help inform community members, fellow organizations, and lawmakers to work together and protect our rights.
