Legal Services
Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta’s legal services department provides comprehensive, high-quality direct immigration legal services to immigrants in Georgia. Our multilingual team assists low-income immigrants in obtaining lawful status, becoming citizens, and defending against deportation. We also seek to empower immigrants through free immigration legal workshops and community education programs.
Immigration Legal Services
We provide direct representation before the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and other immigration agencies. Our services include:
Naturalization and citizenship
Applications for and related to Lawful Permanent Residence
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Renewals
Removal defense for detained and non-detained individuals
Requesting release from immigration detention through bond, parole, or other advocacy
Humanitarian protections such as Asylum, VAWA, U-Visas, and T-Visas
Fees for our legal services are assessed on a sliding scale based on household income. We screen all clients to determine eligibility for fee waivers. Certain humanitarian forms of relief and removal defense are free of charge.

Court Watch Program
In 2025, Advancing Justice-Atlanta along with community partners, launched a court watch program where legal staff and trained volunteers observe non-detained master calendar hearings at the Atlanta Immigration Court. The program’s objectives are to bear witness, identify trends for advocacy, inform and expand legal programming, and engage the broader community.
